What are some great places to move?

Hi. I finish school in a year, and I am trying to figure out where I want to live after I pass the Bar, or where I want to take the Bar. My profession is such that finding a job, or striking out on my own will not be overly difficult, so that is not a consideration. I was thinking either beach or mountains, but beyond that I have no clue. Any helpful suggestions, and why you suggest them would be very helpful. Thanks

Come to New England you have the best of both worlds within a few hours drive. not to mention the fall foliage.

SoCal has the beach and the mountains within a couple hours of eah other and unlike MAJ Robert (Bob) Petrarca suggestion of NE you can actually ski and surf on the same day in SoCal.

Washington DC. What better place to learn the legislative process than the nation's capitol? Did I say that with a straight face? LOL
In all seriousness, while the cost of living is high, it is a great place to live. You are but a mere 2-3 hours drive from Baltimore and the Inner Harbor, a few hours drive to New York City, Philadelphia and Boston. Not to mention the Cherry Blossoms in the spring are to behold!

Midwest is nice, so is Europe (Germany or England). South is ok as well.

Take a good look at Asheville, NC. In the mountains and a few hours from the beaches. This a a school community and a retirement community with every Age in between. Not to sure about the Bar Exam, but there are lots of local Breweries and Bars.

What kind of law do you intend to practice? If you're in business law, or deal with real estate and contracts, then any state with an oil boom needs Litigation Counsels and Landmen to negotiate land leases with current owners. Go where you feel comfortable with the prevalent political, business, tax, and economic environment. I live in Southeast TX and I love it. I've also lived in KS, NM, MD, and my wife has lived in UT, ID, IN. Between the 7 states we have experience with I like TX the best.

Greenville, South Carolina- Your 3 hours from the mountains and 3 hours from the beach. Also, downtown main street has several great restaurants and bars. Plus, its in a great location for trips to Asheville and Charlotte NC or even Atlanta.

Sgt Wilby Wolfson, consider middle Tennessee, especially Nashville. The cost of living is moderate, there are good schools, and the pasture lands and rolling hills push right up to the city limits. The weather is temperate, the job market is good and the entertainment is spectacular. Every waiter and waitress in Nashville and adjoining counties are either country music singers or songwriters!

Tampa Bay is a great option to consider. We have lots of beaches and salt water activities including some great inshore and offshore fishing. We have several reasonbly priced private country club communities offering excellent golf and business events. And we have 3 professional sports teams with the Bucs, Rays and Lightning. Tampa Bay is a growing area with lots to do. I spend a couple weeks a year in Maggie Valley, N.C. ..... because the mountains are cool too.
