Hmm, I usually just talk about my military service an how it relates to the job im applying for. If its for a manager position i highlight the military leadership/ NCO side. Fix problems and getting the "mission" done on time and under budget. I try not to ramble but it 3-4 great points of who i am, what i've accomplished and how i can be a excellent addition to their company. Hope that helped.

When asked that question have answered with what I am most passionate about that is geared toward the job. This serves two purposes, if YOU are truly passionate about what it shows in your expression. Hiring officials want people who can get excited and bring passion to a job. And it show you researched into the job. Not just showed up for the interview. You did your homework and are taking the position seriously.

To me, that seems like "Please, give me your elevator speech. Summarize yourself, your strengths and your goals and why those fit into my company" every question is an opportunity to show these.

Talk about your character, your family and topics important to you not highlighted in your resume. Especially any interest you have that mirror the interests of the organization you're apply to.

If I was going to an interview, I would practice this format: I would describe my last job title and what I did. I would then provide a couple of accomplishments at that job that tie into the position that I am interviewing for. Mention skills that you have that pertain to the job. I would close with the reason why I am applying for that position. Also research the company so that you know their products and services, history, etc.

I recently had to talk about myself for my MBA admissions interview - and when this exact question came up, I just did my best to talk about the qualities I've learned in the military and how they would be applicable to the program I was applying for. Obviously, highlighting leadership and team work were the two biggest qualities I talked about.

Be succinct and brief with a little about your background. This is a time to do your elevator speech. The question is usually to break the ice and make all parties relaxed. The interviewers are looking to get to know you not perfection or how you can solve their problems at this point. Thats like dating your very first question is not going to be hello .....can I move in with you......an appropriate question would be to at least get a name and then what they do. You can go from there.

Just remember the hiring officials already know whats on your resume they want to learn about you.
