Id say it would vary on what one is looking to use camera for. Ie. Photography, videos, specific niche, ect

The canon 5D mark III is one of the best out there right now, the best thing is to know the ins and outs of the camera first. To learn it is best to use the manual mode and look at tutorials to get a better understanding of the different techniques that are out there to use, each and ever different lens will give you more options

Canon7D here...rocking the manual button mostly. More camera than I deserve at my skill set.

The Canon 7D is included in our recce kits. It's got more bells and whistles than i can count. Huge fan!

I started with a used Petri rangefinder in high school in Japan. The nickel a photo I charged
my teammates paid for all my nights of revelry those two years. On my first ship I lucked into
a deal through the supply officer for a new Minolta SRT-101. Bought a telephoto lens and
filters for it in Mauritius. Years later, upgraded the body to a Minolta 9000 (pro model). Since then,
I have upgrade twice to Sony - now a Sony Alpha A33 which is mirrorless.

I have a Nikon D300, have had it for about 7 years now and I live it, it is reliable and sturdy. It has been all over the world with me from the Middle East, Africa, Australia, Papua New Guinea. I have literally taken hundreds of thousands of pictures with it. It is excellent. When it comes to cameras you just have to find one that you like, it is like cars, some like Fords, Chevy, Dodge, some like Canon, Nikon, or Sony. I personally like Nikon, but I have friends who swear by Canon. They all have their good points, it depends to on what you plan to do with it. Just study and research.

I'm using a Canon 5D MkIII...but before I was able to con my wife into letting me buy two of these overpriced status symbols, I've used the Canon EOS 6 and EOS T6 and both were wonderful!

I shoot Olympus. Reason for that is when I retired, no branch in the DoD used Olympus so I could never be accused of lifting equipment when I retired. The longer I shoot images, the more convinced I become that it's the person behind the viewfinder that makes the photograph, not the equipment.

I spent a massive amount of research on this, and went with the Pentax KS2. It was reasonably priced , and the only camera I can use vintage lenses on. No other camera will allow you to do that, not that I have found. Has to do with the sensors NOT being inside the lenses, or something like that. But it works and I love it. You get some great pictures from old lenses. Plus, I get them dirt cheep, like 4 dollars cheep.

I learned it's all personal preference. I used a Olympus OM2 I worked with people who used every thing from Haselblad(SP) to Polaroid. Its not the camera nut the person behind it.
