What are some of the positive aspects of the changes faced during transition?

It is in human nature to resist chang and fear uncertainty. The act of change offers extraordinary opportunities. Change is going to happen in spite of resistance. To be successful requires embracing change as a positive.

These are 6 positive things I got out of my transitional changes.
* I got smarter.
* Became more flexible psychologically.
* Improved my communication skills.
* Became less complacent.
* Realized many more possibilities
* Keeps me focused on the future.

I have to be honest, I am still embracing the changes since getting out in June. I have a job that pays the bills and I am hoping to start school soon so I can look forward to going to work everyday!

I had 2 really great things that happened when I retired. I got married to my wife, and I moved to Thailand. I also had 2 very stressful things happen when I retired. I got married to my wife, and I moved to Thailand. ;)

Seriously, change is good. It can be stressful, but when it is done, you can emerge as a better person.

New opportunities! Having same address for more than 24 months, letting my family grow roots, try something new, buy a house and not sell it, may try something that exceeds an OER rating period.

Doug Macdonald All I've know in my entire life and during all of my military and civilian careers is change. It is a constant in everyone's life. When you wake up everyday, when you go to work, and when you come home to your family, there will be something that changed or is about to change. Change can be scary and it can be intense, but at the same time it can be gentle and rewarding. Change to me is a fact of life and I try to anticipate change like it is coming around the corner at "light speed" and I had better be ready for it. I definitely try to embrace change as a positive because of it's constant existence is in everything I do. Some change will be unexpected, but if you have the right attitude and know that change is just around the corner the 2nd and 3rd order effects will now disable your ability to react, embrace, or push through any type of change. When I'm buried and gone then change will end in my life - just my opinion!

From my perspective as a civilian recruiter. One of the things I see as a positive is the willingness of companies to help transitioning vets at least that's the case here at Cisco. The other thing I am impressed with is the veterans within our company that are willing to lend a hand. We may not be able to help everyone but the vast majority of our veterans here are always willing to serve others.
