The HRC business rules for prior service should be posted there. That is what the current policy and options are for prior service based on rank, etc. Bottom line, prior service are restricted to what is dictated by DA/HRC. However, that applies to going back enlisted. OCS may be an option if you are qualified for it. You can find the qualifications for prior service OCS on go.army.com as well. If qualified for OCS, the recruiter will assist you putting the packet together to submit to the USAREC selection board. If the process is still the same, you may have to attend a local board or interview at the Recruiting Battalion first to get the commander's endorsement, then the packet goes to Fort Knox for the quarterly selection board. If you make the selection list, then your recruiter will schedule you to go to MEPS to contract for OCS. The ship date could be anywhere from 30 days to 365 days, depending on training vacancies at OCS. The recruiter will have the latest criteria and any updated USAREC messages that permit for you to re-enter the service. I sit on OCS boards in my battalion and have recommended a few prior service applicants to attend OCS at Ft Benning. If that is the route you want, you must allow the recruiter to build your enlistment and OCS packets for this to happen. Note any waivers that apply may take some time to be considered fully qualified. Sounds like you should have no issues pending any medical concerns discussed during the interview or found at MEPS. It's best to have all our documents you will need to hand off to the recruiter since he/she will ask for them eventually. Best of luck and best of journeys when you return to duty.
