MAJ Jerry Murray 6935146 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>There seems to be a significant delay between when a ROTC cadet receives his commission and when he can expect to start active duty (at least for Infantry officers). Any options for training or courses while waiting. What are some options for training during the delay between commissioning and IBLOC? 2021-04-28T17:36:31-04:00 MAJ Jerry Murray 6935146 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>There seems to be a significant delay between when a ROTC cadet receives his commission and when he can expect to start active duty (at least for Infantry officers). Get Airborne and Air Assault badges, and if the wait is long enough, go Ranger. You&#39;ll probably never be in better shape for it. 8-) Response by CPT Julius Luck made Apr 28 at 2021 8:49 PM 2021-04-28T20:49:16-04:00 2021-04-28T20:49:16-04:00 SGM Private RallyPoint Member 6935733 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Active Duty is not going to start the new ROTC grad on the payroll until they have a training seat reserved for BOLC.<br />That said, once those orders are published, if the words &quot;early reporting authorized&quot;, there is the opportunity to show up and Benning as much as 30 days early. <br />For Infantry, since the BOLC class will likely have to be broken into 3 groups to filter in to Ranger School, groups 2 and 3 have ample opportunity two squeeze in a few 2-3 week schools, like Airborne, MLOC, Stryker leader, etc.<br />Might be able to squeeze in one of those on the early report, might not. The course is physical enough, the PT is designed to get you ready for Ranger School and you will be expected to apply. There is a very specific training program available through the Ranger School and I would start working on that first. <br />Might as well pick up a Ranger Handbook and start reading up on it. IBOLC doesn&#39;t follow it exactly, but a lot of basic stuff in it. The other would be to work on Land Nav. Don&#39;t want to be the 2LT lost in the woods.
