BAH is ok. If you’re outdoorsy, there’s a lot to do. The Incline. <br />Cons. Too much military. 5 military installations. (6, if you count Buckley AFB near Denver). Everywhere you look, it’s military. The 4ID song. You’ll learn to hate it, quickly.Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 18 at 2018 10:27 PM2018-12-18T22:27:39-05:002018-12-18T22:27:39-05:00MSG Stan Hutchison4219705<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Back in ancient history (1973-1978) I was at Ft Carson. As posted, if you like the outdoors it is great. I spent a lot of my off time fishing, camping, and hunting. <br />Con: now days there are just too damn many people in the area.Response by MSG Stan Hutchison made Dec 19 at 2018 9:57 AM2018-12-19T09:57:22-05:002018-12-19T09:57:22-05:00SPC David S.4219759<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Only was there as a Cadet when we went over to Cheyenne Mountain. Its been a while but the area was very military friendly. If you like doing outdoor stuff there are plenty of places to check out. <br />Army plays AF at the USAFA in Nov 2019 - that would be a cool experience. Units are what you make them. <br />As for the springs its trash. Homeless and beggars everywhere. Its NOT what you see in travel magazines and whatnot. We rent a 3bed and 1 bath house for 1425 a month. So not tooooo bad. Pm me if you have any specific questions.Response by PV2 Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 24 at 2018 3:02 AM2018-12-24T03:02:18-05:002018-12-24T03:02:18-05:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member4232009<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I love it here. Plenty to do outdoors, and the area is beautiful. It’s one of the most desired locations in the Army for a reason. Drawbacks include cold winters (if that is a concern for you) and 4ID who deploys quite often. Plus Colorado Springs is getting very crowded very quickly so traffic can get bad.Response by 1SG Timothy Trewin made Dec 25 at 2018 10:09 PM2018-12-25T22:09:47-05:002018-12-25T22:09:47-05:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member4257489<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Ft. Carson is great. The cost of living is pretty high but manageable. But the activities surrounding the area make up for that. If you're a winter person and like skiing, there's about 5 ski areas within 3 hours. If you're into hunting/fishing, that's plentiful also.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 3 at 2019 8:25 PM2019-01-03T20:25:16-05:002019-01-03T20:25:16-05:002018-12-18T18:40:54-05:00
