Force yourself to smile when things get really shitty; it creates a biofeedback loop that releases neurotransmitters that make you feel happy. Personally, I was happier when I could stay busy, so I would make lists during downtime when we weren't allowed to sleep but didn't have anything else to do: things to eat, places to visit, things to see, things to do, etc. To be honest, when I finally got some food and sleep after it was all over, my notes looked like the ravings of a madman, but they did help at the time. There is and never was anything EASY about Ranger School. YOU will be tired/exhausted/hungry. Most of us simply gutted in out by the grace of God/cadre and teamwork. Your peers (and future Soldiers) will not be there for you if you only step up to work hard when you personally have something to gain.
