And know the job of the Soldier above you. After that or even as you are becoming proficient in that area, go visit the Education Center. Talk to the counselor there about doing some evening/lunch classes and get on the schedule for taking some CLEP tests. These simple efforts will set you apart from your fellow Soldiers who spend their time playing on the X-Box or living at the bar. Also remember to help your fellow Soldiers. Don't be the guy who does all the right things without trying to assist your fellow Soldiers in achieving their goals also. PT will always be a big part of your career also. And lastly look into Military Correspondance Courses. Start with those focused on your MOS and then branch out into other fields. Try to take a basic course from every major branch in the Army. Some will be helpful to you and some might just broaden your horizons. Good luck! First and foremost you must know your job and become the subject matter expert in your specific MOS. Walk, talk, and conduct yourself like a Soldier is suppose to do. You are a professional and do not let anyone tell you any differently. Always seek self improvement through Professional Military Education as well as civilian education. Maintain your physical fitness and always assist those that need help. As you move up the ranks do not forget where you came from and be humble about your accomplishments. Try to learn something new each day. Do not forget to take care of yourself. If you truly want to be the best you can be you must take care of yourself in order to help others around you. Good luck in your endeavors! Response by 1SG Eric Rice made Apr 28 at 2014 10:47 AM 2014-04-28T10:47:23-04:00 2014-04-28T10:47:23-04:00 2014-04-28T06:21:07-04:00
