Well mariadb is a fork of MySQL,mariadb is faster, truely open source. Directly from the docs MariaDB includes test cases for all fixed bugs. Oracle doesn't provide test cases for new bugs fixed in MySQL 5.5.

I knew all that except the test cases. So Oracle releases unstable updates is what you're saying ?

Didn't say that. They just don't don't make stuff fully available remember MySQL is owned by oracle and as with any non open source software you need to pay to play so to speak.
