Many financial advisors will tell you to buy only term insurance. I’m not a financial advisor, but I have read several articles and find their primary argument persuasive. They contend the purpose of insurance is to financially protect against known or unknown risk. Insurance should not be an investment product. Other products provide better return on investment and more flexibility. I recommend discussing insurance and investments with a certified financial planner who is a fiduciary. I use Edleman Financial Engines. Very satisfied with their service.

My VGLI is $140 every three months for 300,000 coverage.
Not terrible.
