If you want to go beyond for professional and civilian career purposes, you should start with CCNP/CCNA, MTA/MSCA/MSCE. If you want to move into cyber-security, then I would suggest CCNS, CASP, CISSP.

DoD 8570.01-M is a good reference to start with. Network? Cisco/Juniper/Palo Alto Networks. (I hold a CCNA and am working on my CCNP.) Systems? MCSA/MCSE, Linux, ETC.

ITIL is a good one to start as it covers the processes in all of the IT Industry.

Bottomline, if you have the ones earned through CompTIA, its time to focus on vendor specific. If you are interested in becoming a white hat hacker I know 3,000+ companies hiring here in Tampa that are looking for veterans to get into the hacking field then I would suggest you getting your VMware cert. and CEH cert. to pair with the certifications mentioned above If you are in Tampa I can assist you in getting these certs and help you get ready for your transition. There are so many certifications and paths that you can follow. If networking is something that interest you, then Cisco Routing and Switching is great track to follow. With Cisco’s Routing and Switch you can go get a CCNA, CCNP and CCIE. Other tracks that Cisco offer include: Cyber Ops, Wireless, Security, Cloud, Collaboration, Network Design, Service Provider, Data Center, Industrial. Again, there are a number of ways you can go. You just have to find what you like and go after it.
