What are the best restaurants for dining out in your area?

Since most of us travel a bit or in my case try to have time to travel. What are some of the better restaurants in your area for dining out. I will be in the Astoria/Seaside OR. area in a couple of weeks and El Paso, TX and Alexradria VA next year. So it never hurts to know a little useful info for dining. Also since I ask to many controversial questions I thought I would lighten it up a little. So help a brother or sister out!
In the Spokane/Coeur d'Alene area it has to be Wolf lodge in Coeur d' Alene, best steak around.

Our favorites here in Colorado Springs are Duca's Neapolitan Pizza, the Greek Cafe, and the Tack Room at the Flying Horse Clubhouse.

In Spokane we have Tecate Grill a Southwest Mexican restaurant that is very good. And Another spot in Coeur d' Alene, Grille From Ipanema a Brazilian grill that is awesome. Can I use that word or am I to old?

I'm just outside Fort Hood, Texas so there are tons of places to eat at. It's a nationwide chain but I used to like Chipolte until they decided to go "full-retard" on law-abiding citizens. SMH.

In the local area, Cheddars is a really good restaurant. Also, Mooyahs Burgers and Fries is awesome and very similar to Five Guys (another one that also went full-retard).

I live in Augusta, Georgia, but my office is in Fort Worth, Texas, so I'll provide my favorites for both:

Augusta, Georgia -- T-Bonz Steak House and the Chop House.

Fort Worth -- Cousins BBQ and Abuelo's Mexican

I also have to add my all-time favorite in the world --- Country's BBQ in Columbus, Georgia

Houston - Niko Niko's original site on Montrose (Greek). Papa's BBQ (Get the pecan pie). Hickory Hollow (Chicken Fried Steak and sides).

Michaels Restaurant in Sunnyvale, Ca had an award-winning Executive Chef. Their clam chowder came in copper tureens and was judged best very year at the annual Santa Cruz competition. Sadly, the restaurant is no more. ---- For seafood, Joe's Crab Shack.

Following my freshman year at San Jose State I spent the summer of 1965 on the staff of Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimmaron, NM. There was Mexican restaurant in town run by a woman named Dee. Several of us ate there at least once a week. At our final meal Dee asked what kind of pie we liked -- then brought out a full pie for each of us. We almost had to crawl back to the car because we were so full.

Too many little "mom and pop" restraunts that are scattered all over the place off the beaten path. Why bother with the big fancy, overpriced joints when you got those?

The restrooms look like sandbagged bunkers and WWII radio plays over the speakers inside (Churchill, Roosevelt, etc.) along with signs reminding you to clear your pockets when going outside the wire.

Great food, and WWII memorabilia everywhere. The outside looks like a bombed out French Chalet (or it did 20 years ago).

There's far too many to really pick one. I will say that at least a couple of my favorites are Ravenelli's which is an Italian restaurant near Scott AFB in IL. I think they only have 3 locations total and they make some damn good food. Another favorite of mine is Jersey Mike's. I know it's nothing fancy by any means but they are by far my favorite deli place.

I would have to say it used to be The Maisonette in Cincinnati, OH. We lived in Cincinnati for seven and half years and we ate there numerous times. Here's the Wikipedia article about it:
"The Maisonette, now defunct, was North America’s most highly rated restaurant before it closed its doors on July 25, 2005.
Owned and operated by the Comisar family and located since 1966 at 114 E. 6th Street in Cincinnati, The Maisonette boasted the longest running streak of five-star awards, the highest designation given by Mobil Travel Guide. That streak ended at 41 years when The Maisonette closed."

Hamburgers, Philly cheesesteaks, spicy breaded chicken, Italian food and German food are my favorites MSgt Private RallyPoint Member. I live in Sterling VA which is about 40 miles west of Alexandria, VA.
My rule of thumb is checking out the parking lot around meal time. Empty restaurants are not a good sign, usually.
Popeye's Chicken is my favorite chicken restaurant.
Five guys hamburgers is my favorite hamburger place but Fuddruckers is also good and has military and veteran discount. Of the fast food chains, I prefer Wendy's which has 15% discount for military, veterans and EMS.
For Italian I like in alphabetical order Bertucci's, Carrabba's, and Romano's Macaroni Grill
Good German food is hard to find. I prefer Bavarian food. My favorite is Salzburg Austria At Kaiser's - The Austrian Gasthaus - Ashburn, VA,
I recommend at least looking at Yelp to see what locals have to say about restaurants.

Almost any restaurant in New Orleans would be outstanding - sampled more than a few when the scuba diving industry used to have conventions there every three years before Katrina. Bread pudding for or with breakfast, lunch and dinner plus a midnight snack after barhopping the French Quarter.
