It&#39;s a nationwide chain but I used to like Chipolte until they decided to go &quot;full-retard&quot; on law-abiding citizens. SMH.<br /><br />In the local area, Cheddars is a really good restaurant. Also, Mooyahs Burgers and Fries is awesome and very similar to Five Guys (another one that also went full-retard). Their clam chowder came in copper tureens and was judged best very year at the annual Santa Cruz competition. Sadly, the restaurant is no more. ---- For seafood, Joe&#39;s Crab Shack.<br /><br />Following my freshman year at San Jose State I spent the summer of 1965 on the staff of Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimmaron, NM. There was Mexican restaurant in town run by a woman named Dee. Several of us ate there at least once a week. At our final meal Dee asked what kind of pie we liked -- then brought out a full pie for each of us. We almost had to crawl back to the car because we were so full. I will say that at least a couple of my favorites are Ravenelli&#39;s which is an Italian restaurant near Scott AFB in IL. I think they only have 3 locations total and they make some damn good food. Another favorite of mine is Jersey Mike&#39;s. I know it&#39;s nothing fancy by any means but they are by far my favorite deli place. I live in Sterling VA which is about 40 miles west of Alexandria, VA.<br />My rule of thumb is checking out the parking lot around meal time. Empty restaurants are not a good sign, usually.<br />Popeye&#39;s Chicken is my favorite chicken restaurant.<br />Five guys hamburgers is my favorite hamburger place but Fuddruckers is also good and has military and veteran discount. Of the fast food chains, I prefer Wendy&#39;s which has 15% discount for military, veterans and EMS.<br />For Italian I like in alphabetical order Bertucci&#39;s, Carrabba&#39;s, and Romano&#39;s Macaroni Grill<br />Good German food is hard to find. I prefer Bavarian food.
