If you do drive, I would caution you to watch the weather. I-10 has a tendency to flood in Louisiana if you take that route. Just keep an eye out for tropical storms/hurricanes (much like what we have out there now!@). I am in Houston and have driven Houston to Virginia many times, I have a few tips if you are going to drive. It takes about 12-14 hours or so. I doubt you'll have much luck with SpaceA - I don't think Rucker has a SpaceA terminal. You could conceivably fly into Maxwell AFB (Montgomery), then rent a car and make the 2 hour drive to Rucker. I-20 to US-80 to AL-28/10/106/189/US-84. That'll take you around Selma and Montgomery and right into Rucker. The nearest airports that are serviced by airlines are probably going to be Montgomery or PCB. They're smaller airports though so they're going to cost more to fly through than someplace like Atlanta or Birmingham. Funny part, to me, is that with the Army Aviation Center there, one of the worst options is to fly? Both get off the interstate and hit smaller highways but looks like straight shot. And you would have your POV for the evenings! Get to I-10, go east, take I-20 east, turns back into I-10, all the way to 79 in FL, turns into AL 167. Keeps you out of all the small towns and Kees you from going south through New Orleans.
