What are the chances of a 91B (H8) going to Korea?

What are the chances of me getting stationed in Korea if I take hotel 8 (H8) after AIT? I heard there's a very large chance but my soft orders are for Germany so I might not take it if I'll definitely end up in Korea, not exactly my cup of tea.

Well before during my time circa 1998 getting Germany was almost impossible but getting South Korea was more feasible and that was my first duty station after AIT.

I took H8 and was sent to Korea. It all depends on what class you get in, they were sending every other class when I went through.

I was told by my re-enlistment Sergeant that if you are H8 then it is very high to go to Korea. They also mentioned that with H8 you can just as easily go to Italy so talk to your re-enlistment person about going to Italy

Pretty high. If you request it, you are almost guaranteed to get it.

If you want to go to Korea, it would be too easy. If you don’t, they need H8 qualified mechanics everywhere.

Don't let the fact that you think you want to go here and not there detract from your career. H8 is one of the best courses I've been to.
H8 isn't going to send you to Korea. The needs of the army will. And if they need a h8 that bad they'll simply send you to Korea then send you h8. H8 is needed everywhere.

I was told Id be going to korea for my first unit but ended up getting sent to Okinawa, Japan. Its all based on the needs of the army. That wishlist you made in basic reception is just that, a wishlist. They could send you, but be prepared to go anywhere. The only duty station you are almost guarenteed is the one you request upin your first reenlistment.

I was class 25(June 18 - July 12). My whole class as well as the previous and class after, had their orders switched to Korea.
Also if it gets switched you'll need to get your shots and new orders which can take awhile so, you would be a hold for a bit.
