The system development and technology side is only open to Officers and Civilians, NCOs do Contracting only.
It is very competitive. The last board selected 27 active NCOs and 5 reserve. As SSG Wensjoe states, there are a lot of problems with our field in retention on the uniformed side mainly because of leadership, OPTEMPO and career track vs. the fantastic opportunities as a civilian. I have a hard time convincing any NCOs who are certified in contracting to stay in the Army or even continue in the Army Reserve. Below is the link to the office that manages the board.
Being part of the Defense Acquisition workforce is fantastic!
I have no comment on the uniformed side of Army Contracting Command.
Best of luck

Candidates selected for reclassification not only learn a new craft, but also, through the training, education, and professional development aspects of the MOS, gain valuable transferable skills. The accession process is competitive but rewarding. For specific deadlines, dates and packet...

Thank you very much sir. I really hope to get it. I can not wait to get back on Business field and go back to school for Master. It’s been a long time I haven’t use my Degree. If I get this job it would give me a chance to expend the knowledges.

I should add that the community is high demand/low density and struggles with chronic Manning shortages. A lot of us find employing our acquisition certs & experience on the outside less stressful and more rewarding, so attrition is high. you're competent and qualified, the odds are pretty good in your favor.

Thank you for the infomation. I met all the requirements but I am worry about my current branch. I tried to do Recruiting last year my branch didn’t release me. That’s why I am kinda nervous. I really wish to get it. I haven’t been using my Business Degree since I joined the Army. I can not wait to get back on that field plus I enjoy doing market analysis.

Can't speak to your chances, but it's acquisitions. The "T" is silent. It's a good community, Good luck!
