What are the characteristics you value most in a leader? What about a political leader?

We all have a laundry list of traits we ascribe to good leaders (and bad). Which of those traits do you think most important in a political leader? Is it just important that they say they will pursue an agenda that you value, or do you look for something more?

I don't like lawyers or politicians for the most part, I think most are dishonest. To win my respect they must:
1) love the USA
2) be honorable
3) respect the Constitution and the Bill of Rights
4) hold the lives of our citizens and soldiers in high regard
and 5) practice fiscal responsibility
(*it's hard to believe that someone who holds you in high regard would spend your money frivolously)

If I can't have these qualities in the person I vote for, then I try to find one that at least lies and says they will pursue policy that I feel is important. The one that tells the most believable lie gets the vote.

Right now we need a leader who has "Traditional American" values. The value of stronger economic policies, protecting our national defense. Not serving minorities for a vote, but all Americans. We need a leader who has a heart for our country and the strength we can attain. I heard Biden say today "we can't solve all the problems of the world" really? Like we didn't know that! Let's get a leader that states what we can do. We have to identify our capabilities and pursue common interests. We need a leader that is selfless (doesn't play so much golf) and one who can influence this nations leaders to band together and act. (Unlike congress)

Lead from the front, with honor and integrity. If not, you are not a leader. For politic's tell the truth, no matter how bad it is.
