Now my CO wants me to take two more diagnostic pt tests before I take my second record. Can I be punished for failing a diagnostic after I failed my first record pt test?Tue, 09 Apr 2019 18:19:55 -0400What are the consequences for failing a diagnostic PT test?

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>The Commander can have you take a Diagnostic whenever they so choose to. This isn't punishment. This is to see if improvement is being made. Also, this is normal for units to order Diagnostics monthly until a Passing happens. This is also considered Remedial PT. Which is also within their realm and normal.MSG Private RallyPoint MemberTue, 09 Apr 2019 18:25:57 -04002019-04-09T18:25:57-04:00Response by 1SG Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 9 at 2019 6:38 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Do you understand what a diagnostic test is? Technically there is no such thing, it is a not for record test, but it can be used to identify problem areas. Your commander is actually doing you a service in having you take these tests prior to your next record. It might be better to think of them as practice tests to see where you need to "study" more before taking the exam that counts.1SG Private RallyPoint MemberTue, 09 Apr 2019 18:38:45 -04002019-04-09T18:38:45-04:00Response by SFC Melvin Brandenburg made Apr 9 at 2019 7:51 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>My advice, never, ever, ever, fail a pt test. Once you get comfortable with the idea that failing is ok because something doesn't seem important enough, that starts an erosion of personal standards. Never, ever, fail a test of any kind, especially a pt test.SFC Melvin BrandenburgTue, 09 Apr 2019 19:51:16 -04002019-04-09T19:51:16-04:00Response by SGM Bill Frazer made Apr 9 at 2019 8:32 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>How can you take any test on a profile? After you explain this it may help fold with their responses. Thank you for your service.CSM Darieus ZaGaraTue, 09 Apr 2019 22:20:14 -04002019-04-09T22:20:14-04:00Response by CPT Lawrence Cable made Apr 10 at 2019 8:11 AM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>First, how did you take a APFT while still on Profile? No, you won't be punished for failing a diagnostic PT test. You might get a counseling statement, but your COC can counsel you any time they please and it shouldn't be looked at as punishment. What you need to focus on is passing the second Record APFT. It will remove the flag against favorable actions AND allow the command to promote/re-enlist you if you stay qualified.CPT Lawrence CableWed, 10 Apr 2019 08:11:37 -04002019-04-10T08:11:37-04:00Response by CW4 Craig Urban made Jul 7 at 2019 1:08 AM
