What are the current regulations for AIT Students in regards to the DA Form 6?

I was informed that trainees pulling duty in an AIT unit are not governed by a DA Form 6 and that they are only required to get 4 hours of sleep. Now I have been retired since 1997, but this seems to me to be all kinds of incorrect. Is the information I am being given correct in today's AIT units?

Don't know the regs, but our DSs told us they were only required to give us fours hours a night, and there were many nights thats all we got.

When it comes to trainees always reference TRADOC Reg 350-6. Para 3.6.A.1 trainees get 7 hours of continuous sleep. Unless they have duty (CQ/KP/Fireguardect) This is nothing new.

SGM Nathan Thomas, I went to AIT(11C) at Fort Jackson, SC in 1970. Although, training was rigorous and we pulled detail (guard duty and KP), I can't say that I remember being sleep deprived. However, that was 46 years ago, so who knows what happened?!

No they're not governed by a DA 6.

I can say that the DA 6 is not used but the Soldiers do get 7-8 hrs of sleep.
