What are the different kinds of jobs that a 68W can actually perform?

I know any line medic will do a little bit of whatever their attached unit is doing, but besides line medic, what are the other types of duties a 68w might be assigned while deployed?

Combat medic, hospital medic, flight medic (additional training), special operations combat medic (additional training), SOAR flight medic (additional training), civil affairs medic (additional training) and probably others that I can’t think of, being a 68W requires you be incredibly flexible with the different jobs you’ll have throughout your career in the military.

I just noticed the “while deployed” part, it still stands that you have to be flexible as a medic, they can stick you anywhere. I’ve seen medics tasked out as full time fuelers while deployed.

Medics also do clinic duty/ hospital duties, health inspections, water inspections, kitchen inspections- anything that does or can affect the health of troops.

This could end up being a long list. Let's start at the BAS. A medic can be a line doc, ambulance driver/aidman, or an emt in the BAS treatment squad. Further duties include medical records clerk, medical supply specialist/ sergeant, medical maintenance manager, vehicle fleet maintenance manager, preventive medicine services manager, occupational health and safety manager, field sanitation program manager, and readiness manager just to name a few. Many of these same positions exist in the clinical and hospital settings. You could add patient advocacy specialists, Joint Commission Specialists, clinic/department training manager

Medical coverage is a popular gig, particularly for people assigned to units without specific medical missions like the aforementioned jobs. I did 15K miles in the back seat of a HMMV during OIF 3 running convoys, dig missions, VIP escorts, etc.

CPL Palmberg hit the nail on the head. As a line medic during OIF 3, I did a "lotta" bit of everything ranging from convoy ops, med-cap missions, security ops, OP operations, checkpoints, QRF, roving patrol, even kicked in doors on raids.. Just be ready for anything as a line medicine on deployment.

It really just depends on what kind of unit you're attached to. I was attached to a detainee unit I'm one of my deployments. I've been attached to a cash unit, there are literally hundreds of jobs you could do
