I have been following 25D for a couple of years now, eager to reclass to that. I even tailored my college towards that end. While my schooling has been more about policy and management, I have no problem getting into coding and other aspects. I have added classes to my degree plan to help accomplish this. I was mildly surprised when 17C was announced and now I'm stuck...what are the big differences between the two...

Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 8 at 2017 4:26 PM 2017-04-08T16:26:22-04:00 2017-04-08T16:26:22-04:00 SSG Steven Borders 2481216

SGT Private RallyPoint Member I know WHCA is looking for 25D's. Might be something to look into when you reclass. I sure have enjoyed every minute of it. Not only will it set you up for success in your career, but it will open up many doors outside when you are done with the military! You will spend a lot of time for 3 1/2 months doing some intense studying. Push through and you will be better afterwards (might even get some job opps from SANS)

Bad : If you have not done much IT security in the past then you might feel overwhelmed from the course work. Prepare yourself now before class and it will help you out later.

Ugly : Army seems to be letting this MOS fall into the dirt as it tries to build it's 17 (cyber) series. It is a shame because you learn a lot and it seems to be wasted while in the military. Outside the military however, you are well setup for a great job.
