An unofficial motto of a unit that I once belonged to (and yet it was said more than the real one): F*** It!

Talk about some dissaffected people, but the mission was always accomplished.

I had this moto when I was in an Engineer Unit in PA: "Fast and Rugged" with a dozer with wings as the unit crest.

When deployed there was a battalion under the brigade whose motto was "Don't kick our dog". Anyone from the 203 EN BN can explain the history of that. It is a good one.

A while ago one of our Bde Commanders wanted a more Latin motto for us and our current IG who had a background in languages came up with "Primus Praecedere" (something to that affect) which translated to "First to Proceed" It got a lukewarm reception and soldiers being soldiers we walked around saluting with "Pasta Primavera" it shortly died out.

I was on a Coast Guard Buoy tender in Alaska.
Our motto was:
"Keeper of the northern lights"
For those unfamiliar with Coast Guard Buoy tenders, some of what we do is tech the lights on the buoys... Our motto not only describes that, but obviously is a tribute to our home port in Alaska where the Aurora Borealis can be seen.
Originally our brow Dodgers had the motto in Alaskan native Tlingit - but later changed to english. This was our homage to the indigenous Alaskan population.

My all time favorite was from the Experimentation Support Engineer Co. at Ft Hunter Liggett. When the Latin was translated it was "Strength Through Erection" If you don't think a bunch of 18- 20 something year old guys didn't have fun with that one.....

Another fun one was the 62nd Engineers at Hood, It was " I Soldier with a Hammer", so everything was " hammer time" which was fine for years until MC Hammer made the song. We were trying to trying to make Soldiers feel appreciated and came up with hammer time hero's where we publicly recognized a Soldier from each company, each week, with a coin. The Soldiers Squad Leader would have to tell everyone why PVT Snuffy was the best in their company that week. Then the commander would have everyone give them a single clap on the count of three. It was cool imagine 800 - 1000 troops and one clap in unison, echoed off the buildings.
One evening, one of the squad leaders and their troop were embarrassed at the public recognition and started to leave before they got their clap, not thinking how it would sound I yelled "hey you cant leave till you get the clap" The whole battalion lost it laughing and a long running joke was born.

Good topic Sir!

We being horizontal construction, we can come up with some groovy motos. Some good and some dirty of course, because Army.
The longest running we have was "Blades deep." Another super short lived was "Your hole, our goal." You can imagine why that was cut short from being belted at the top of our lungs. Our concrete detachment used it and it made more sense.
A goodie I heard from HQ platoon was "Sign here." But they said it so insecure it was hilarious! It came out in question form.
While I was acting platoon sergeant for my groups Performance Triad AT we had fun. We would have for:
Morning Formation - "Pickles are green!"
PT formations - "Ice skating is neat!"
Any impromptu formation - "Stoehr looks like Sid!" (A soldier in my group made the mistake saying that one of his friend said he looked like Sid from Toy Story) Our 1SG for thr AT giggled after each one.
