Plus we had people who were interstate transfers for the deployment. If deployment is something you&#39;re interested in, you could transfer to another unit that is headed out. When I was deployed. I had 1ea. 25U for my whole Infantry company and he was busy as hell. I did 5 years in the Army Guard before switching to the Air. I was able to deploy in 2014, but many of my peers did not get the opportunity. I TRAINED EVERYDAY AS IF I WAS GOING TO WAR WELL I NEVER WENT TO WAR BUT I KNEW THAT I MIGHT BE CALLED UPTON TO SERVE IN A COMBAT ROLE AND I WAS ACTIVE DUTY FOR 16.5 years and I look at I WAS READY AT ALL TIMES. Both times were within a year of enlisting. The rumor mill says my 3rd is right around the corner so that would make 3 in 10 years. Of course, demand could arise depending on your MOS which could push or bump you off of the bubble. Signal active duty assets keep getting cut back so reserve Signal is leaned on even harder. Deployment is the reason we should we serve, I hope you get the opportunity. If there&#39;s a war/conflict going on and there are troops on ground then maybe YES! But if not where would you get deployed to? Mid 90&#39;s was a good example of this. There were more than enough active duty troops and not enough demand for troops overseas so NG didn&#39;t see many deployments if any!
