What are the other routes to becoming an Army Nurse officer after completing a BSN and NCLEX?

I was told that direct commissioning mission for graduate nurses (66X) is not available for fy 2021 by an AMEDD recruiter.

If there are no slots available, find an internship for a new grad ICU or ER position at a local civilian hospital - get 2 years of experience in a speciality and then direct commission as a 2LT.

AMEDD and military in general has a lot to do with timing and needs of the Army. It is good you have your BSN. I’d take this opportunity to progress in your career with nursing experience and consider taking pre-requisites for CRNA school. You can become an Army Officer that route and have a DNP Anesthesia paid for by the military. I would also look into the ACFT and being proactive in fitness while waiting. Anything you do to better yourself will only make you a much better candidate. Hang in there and keep following up with an AMEDD recruiter because availability can always change.

We do not deal with graduate nurses and I have never heard of a 66X. Graduate nurses is a term some states use to allow practice after graduation from a program but have not passed the NCLEX. I would inquire to a recruiter about direct commissioning 66H, MED-SURGE RN. That is what most of us start out as.
