Work hard and play hard. As an E4 you will have the responsibility of a lot of the heavy lifting. Be prepared for long days and short nights. When it comes time to live fire, all the training and time spent preparing is worth it. It’s literally a blast! You will train and train and the chances of you deploying anywhere in the middle East is slim to none. I’ve been in artillery for four years and I am currently a gunner on the 777. My entire brigade deployed to Afghanistan in February of 2020. President Trump signed a piece treaty with the taliban and we were brought back in a month. This is a very specific story and you never know when or where we might see combat next as a hole army but from my experience it was not worth it. You will not gain any transferable skills to the civilian world and you will not get the same kind of pride or respect as other combat MOS’s if your stuck on the artillery world go 13f. If you have any other options choose something practical or go 15 series Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 15 at 2021 7:20 PM 2021-02-15T19:20:50-05:00 2021-02-15T19:20:50-05:00 SPC Private RallyPoint Member 6750353 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>13B is a lot of fun when you don&#39;t have downtime. When you&#39;re out on training or doing a fire mission, and you have a good crew, it&#39;s a lot of fun. Rewarding sometimes too. 13R from what I hear is the nerdy shit. You&#39;ll spend lots of time watching little blips, and fixing/ troubleshooting equipment made by contractors of the lowest bidder; but you are very needed. So there&#39;s that. If you want best of both worlds, go 13M. I can&#39;t even imagine what it&#39;s like to be a 13B now let alone a soldier. Back then we had a lot of downtime. Enough to get a lot of college classes in. I&#39;ve been a software engineer for the past 20 years. Response by SSG Fernando Zamora made Mar 8 at 2021 4:41 AM 2021-03-08T04:41:51-05:00 2021-03-08T04:41:51-05:00 2021-02-13T07:23:23-05:00
