What are the regulations regarding off brand fleece cap and gloves?

Chapter 18-12 page 120
a. Type. The fleece cap is a clothing bag issue item. b. Description. The fleece cap is a single ply, bell shape, pull on style cap, of plain, solid foliage green or black fleece/micro fiber material. The wear-out date of the foliage green fleece cap is 30 September 2017. The mandatory pos-session date for the black fleece cap is 1 October 2017. c. How worn. Personnel wear the fleece cap pulled down snugly on the head with the bottom edge covering the ears, but not covering the eyebrows. The bottom edge (all) of the cap may be folded, but not rolled. The fleece cap is worn with the physical fitness uniform or the combat uniform, as prescribed by the commander.

In my opinion, if it looks EXACTLY like the regular and functions the EXACT same as the on brand, I dont see a problem with it. Boots are like that. I would assume that if the other are the exact same you will be fine.

So long as it looks exactly alike I don't believe AR 670-1 mentions any brands by name.

Depends on the command. Some commanders will authorize them if they don't stand out and you haven't been issued the items previously.

Regulation on commercial gloves AR 670-1 Chapter 20-11

(4) Optional gloves. As an option, Soldiers may wear commercial gloves, unless restricted by the commander, as an optional purchase item. Gloves must be four-finger-and-thumb type design in a slip-on style, all black, plain, with no
logos or designs, made of black leather, fabric, or other material of appropriate commercial design.

I spent most of my enlistment in mountain units, so we had much more leeway with gloves. They could be any "Army looking" color like black, foliage green, white, tan etc. They could be 5 finger or mitten design, depending on how cold it was and the activity. Obviously no mittens while rappelling. Logos had to be either removed or subdued. Anything outside the general rules had to be approved on a case by case basis from the CO.

Its says that about the fleece cap and gloves.. but if it ain't authorized then wtf is the point having coyote brown fleece caps for sale, black gloves with logos, brown gloves, multicam gloves all in the exchange? Idk why that's even a reg when more than 90% of soldiers wear whatever gloves are sold at the exchange.. and I see a lot of people wear the brown fleece cap in the field when very cold..so.. idk. It's just stupid. Lol. Plus the brown fleece cap looks better with the OCP uniform.
