What are the requirements for admittance to signal Warrant Officer school (255A/255N)?

Greetings all,
Im a reservist 25B (IT) and I've been wanting to go to Warrant officer school for it (255A). I graduated AIT in September, but still haven't found much information about it online.

What should I do in order to better prepare myself? Is it a requirement that I hit E6 status before going? I am currently applying for a B.S. in Astrophysics but I can switch back to computer engineering or applied mathematics if they have any bearing on it?

On a separate note, does going to RASP or SOF increase chances of admittance to Warrant school?

255A requires NCOERs so you must be an NCO to apply

Lol what??? RASP or SOF? I think if you knew what those acronyms meant you wouldn't ask that. RASP isn't a thing you "go" it's a selection for a unit SFAS and Green Platoon are selection processes, and it's for Active Duty applying to work at the 75th. SOF is a catchall term for anything under USASOC which is just another Airborne assignment and has no bearing on your technical skills.

You need several years of experience in your MOS and recommendations from a warrant officer in your field before you can apply. Learn the basics first.

Soldier you need some local mentoring and a conversation with your Retention NCO. You are simply uninformed, that is not a problem, all of the information you speak will become clearer when speaking to the right people.

Hello Amir,
While I agree with the other first three replies, the Signal branch has been accepting waivers for time in grade, rank, and number of NCOERs. Like CSM said, you need some good mentoring from a signal Warrant. If I were asked to write your letter of recommendation, my quuestions would be centered around CPOF, STTs, AMDWS, TAIS, FBCB2, AMPS, ACN, VMware, and more. Then I would want to hear that you understand how they all integrate and at which echelons. Then I would want to know your experience with dealing with RHNs, when your last JRTC/NTC/WFx was and what your challenges were.
My point is, smart, which it sounds like you are, is not the only thing I would be looking for. The Signal Warrant must already know. You're expected to be the technical expert from day one.
I would also want to WHY you want to be A Warrant Officer.
If you want to pursue being a 255 or 170, start seeking out opportunities to learn the tactical environment, that will be your job.

Seek mentoring from a good NCOs and WO in the field you are interested. RASP/SOF has absolutely nothing to do with your WO packet quality, not to mention this folks - for the most part (with a very few exceptions) are in the active component - the board members look for the whole person concept and your relevant background and knowledge to the field.

Additional, there are specific requirements you can see in the WO recruitment webpage; standard Army wide. That been said... in some very technical fields, some requirements are waived so long the candidate has or exceed the required experience and/or certifications. Hence the need of a good SIGO mentor!

Great Idea, but how much experience do you actually have in that field? Originally Warrants were old time NCO's that were such experts in their field that the service wanted to keep them around badly. That probably won't come quick for you.
