If pulled over, must declare it immediately.

Back to the Question: I am going to be visiting the Seattle/Tacoma area in July. I have my CCL and would like to travel with it... what is the base policy of JBLM as it pertains to firearms? I know that the rules are base specific, so am checking to see what base specific rules JBLM has prior to going there! What are the rules for firearms (for base visitors) for Joint Base Lewis McCord? 2018-06-06T23:10:38-04:00 Maj Chris Nelson 3691094

Background: Fairchild AFB in Spokane allows visitors to now keep their firearms in the vehicle as long as they are UNLOADED, SEPARATED from the ammo, and Locked (so a small under the seat safe). Basically you err never allowed to carry and that looks like it still applies. Restriction today still do nothing to allow you to defend yourself. My second tour at Ft Lewis I was in my motorcycle riding phase. I carried all the time. I guess you could say I violated policy. Speaking of riding, they had a requirement that you had to wear a reflective vest when in post. I used to stop at the gate while I put in it took off that stupid vest. Used to puss the MP’s off but I did it every day. Second, if as you state you will be going on base for a function, just leave it in your hotel for the day. No brainer. It would suit you to also investigate the receiprocity for open carry between where you were issued your CCL and where you're going. Your destination may not honor it.
