They can fill out a 4187 requesting a TPU to TPU transfer. Assuming you have no obligation to the losing unit, the orders will be cut by USARC. If you do have an obligation to the losing unit, you will need a signed releases from your commander. A career counselor can help you find another unit, and their S1 can fill out the paperwork.

Good luck. Once a unit is found (that is willing to accept you) you will need to fill out a transfer request (DA 4651) and provide it to the new unit for signature. Your retention NCO and unit commander will need to give you an exit counseling. S1 will take all the documents and put them in a packet and send them up the chain (BN, BDE, etc) and orders will get cut reassigning you. Retention NCO with my (previous) unit was useless. The POCs he gave me were either wrong numbers or no longer in service. I tried finding local reserve units through the phone book and local recruiters to no avail. Finally, when time became an issue, I went to the top and called the 81st RSC at Ft. Jackson and spoke to a SFC in retention that was incredible and furnished a number of transportation units to contact. So, long story short, do not depend on anybody and be willing to do some research and contacts on your own.
