Google will tell you the big guys, but "top" may be small if you're looking local to you.

I'd personally recommend the company I work for, Doyon Universal Services. It's a private security company (and subsidiary to Doyon Limited, a Native Alaskan Corporation) based out of Anchorage, Alaska (with work in on the North Slope of Alaska, Seattle, Oregon, and Texas as well). The head of our company is a Marine, and the head of the Anchorage contracts is a retired Alaska State Trooper who was deployed in Iraq with Marines and soldiers. A large portion of our new hires are prior or current military. In the time I've been with the company I've really liked the management and training we receive.

In my experience NO.
Police, Sheriff, Armed Security positions YES,
Most unarmed positions hired cheap - I'm assuming you want to raise a family.
