What are thoughts on General Powell's comments.

I have always respected Colin Powell, and while his points may be valid, they are not confined to the GOP alone

I am a fan of General Powell. I like just about everything he said in that interview. I especially like his advice to folks (everyone!) regarding how to behave when stopped by the police. That's solid advice, and I think if everyone followed it, we would have much less tension between the citizenry and law enforcement.

I respect GEN Colin Powell and like CMSgt (Join to see) mentioned it is not just the Republicans. In fact, the South in the 60's were very Democrat and they were responsible for the violence. Although President Johnson worked very much in the shadows with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to pass voter rights five months later.
