I've always loved the Battleships & PT Boats , P-38 Lighting & P-51Mustang, Abrams Tank & HMMWV (Humvee ).

CPL Dave Hoover I agree with you completely about the Battleships and the PT Boats. When it comes to Aircraft, I have always been a big fan of the F-4U Corsair, the P-38, and the F-14. When it comes to the ground, I like the old school Jeep and the Sherman Tank.

Water craft: 10 man Combat Rubber Raiding Craft (CRRC)
Vehicle: Deuce and a Half, better then walking

Helicopters - They are, in my opinion, quite the engineering feat and a machine that I don't really see being able to do much improving upon. Especially aircraft like the Chinook and Black Hawk.

Abrams - The Abrams came crashing through the door as the model for the next generation of tanks. It's a beast of a machine that I think still doesn't have a peer.

Bradley - I was an operator on one in my 7th Cav days so I'm a little partial.

F-15 - It's still undefeated after almost 40 years of existence.

My first tour was on the USS Nimitz, so I'm somewhat partial to Nimitz-class aircraft carriers and F-14 Tomcats.

My son and I love watching videos of Battleships firing. There's just something so satisfying about the smoke and fire and noise that you don't get with Tomahawk cruise missiles.

One of my favorite aircrafts is the B-24. Mainly because my grandfather flew one in WWII. I have some of his old manuals from back then. They wouldn't pass the political correctness test these days!

I'll second you on the Abrams being one of my favorite land vehicles. They supported us in Iraq and few things made you feel better than a couple of those beasts showing up to help.

Ground vehicle for me would be the HMMWV M997/M997-A2 (it's nice to have A/C) loved all HMMWV's though. I also love the LVS, aka Dragonwagon. It is just an all around versatile system.

Aircraft, I have always loved how beautiful the P-51 Mustang is but I would have to choose the A-10 Warthog on this one.

Watercraft, LCAC Hovercraft. Even though it is a loud and wet ride, it's just effing awesome!

Aircraft: P38 Lightning, P47 Thunderbolt , A-1 Skyraider and the A-10 Warthog. Navy ships/boats. WWII Era Fletcher Class Destroyers and the Gato/Baleo Class Submarines. You have to give it to the WWII Submariners , they actually did what the Germans attempted and more and on a lot bigger ocean. Vehicles, M1 Tank, the M3 Half Track, and the venerable M113 Armored Personnel Carrier. Wouldn't mind having a Buffalo either. I have to pick a favorite weapon, Ma Deuce would come to mind.

SR-71, Blackbird -- the fastest planes that ever took flight. The official fastest record it holds is 2,193.13 mph.

Over 4,000 missiles were fired at the Blackbird in the 25 years it was flown, but none ever hit it. The Blackbird was just too fast and its evasive tactic was just to speed up until the missile couldn’t keep up with it. Wut?? MADNESS!!! :):)

F4U Corsair of WW-II - Black Sheep Squadron all the way.

B-25 - Pacific Theater: 4 .50 Cals mounted in the nose, 2 on either side for a toal of 8! Running at wave top in formation skip bombing with 500 lb HE bombs. They were not at all designed to be attack craft but they were extremely effective in this role! IMHO, more effective then being a mid-altitude bomber!

More modern: F/A-18A Hornet. Marine Corps OV-10 Bronco.

Yes, you guessed it - aircraft rule!

Being a Watercraft Engineer, I too love the "classic" design of the WW II PT boats. When I was in grade school, I remember seeing advertisements that were selling surplus PT boats. I wish they were still available. There is a video on YouTube where someone refurbished a British PT Boat to new status, and even included replica guns, depth charges, and torpedoes. Also love our Army watercraft inventory of LCU 2000s, and LSVs. Large Tugs are also pretty cool.

As for aircraft, I love the F-15 Eagle, F-22 Lightning, A-10 Thunderbolt (aka, Warthog), C-17 Globemaster, and C-5 Galaxy. However, as a former CH-47 mechanic, the Chinook is my all-time favorite aircraft. Space Force will likely find a way to modify it to go to space one day : )

Ground vehicles don't really excite me, as I've PMCSed more HMMWVs and LMTVs than I care to remember. Although the MLRS and Paladin Self-Propelled 155mm Howitzers look like really neat systems.

No real glory for these choices, but as a USAF mechanic my 2 favorite are the 10,000# Hyster forklift and the Tunner 60,000# aircraft cargo loader.

I would say those 2 assets have moved more than their fair share of bombs, bullets and beans in support of our war fighters, both are extremely reliable, and I loved working on them.

Besides those, HMMWVs were good for their time (but lost a lot of blood working on them) and the M35 "Duece and a half" was always a joy to work on and drive.
