An example would be Airborne school with the 82nd. The 82nd primary mission is airfield seizure. It's difficult to be mission capable if you have leaders that cannot jump. If you ever find yourself assigned to a Cavalry unit for example you will be required to earn your Spurs and purchase a Stetson. Although no one will ever say it's mandatory, they do say it's highly encouraged.  Which of course equates to GET IT DONE!  CSM Private RallyPoint Member Sat, 25 Jan 2014 15:24:16 -0500 2014-01-25T15:24:16-05:00 Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 25 at 2014 3:50 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-are-your-feelings-on-units-requiring-additional-schools-air-assault-airborne-etc-before-being-allowed-to-appear-before-a-board?n=44097&urlhash=44097 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>SGT buckhotlz I believe every soldier should strive to be the best they can be. It would be kind of hard to lead troops on an airborne mission if you have to meet them at the objective because you can't jump, wouldn't it? SGT Richard H. I have to agree. Special units have special requirements. Lead by example!
