Visit my kinfolk, talk to them, lay my change on the headstones of my folks, think of others buried in different parts. Smoke a fine cigar around them, and have a wee dram of the good stuff in their honor as we talk about the past when we were Young. maybe sing some of the Airborne ditties we knew by heart, play some Toby Keefe country and others that made us stand straighter, and made the hair on our neck curl. Maybe read poetry- The Feast of St Stephen or Scots Wha Hae, straighten their flags and visit a wee bit. As the sun starts to go play copy of Sgt McKinzies Lament, and lastly Flowers of the Forest, last Retreat of the day. The slowly walk thru my friends, kith, kin and family to the car and drive off to home, remembering those who where lain elsewhere and then Thank God for such people. Their US Flag is in tatters. <br /><br />My 4 year old and myself dressed up in our uniforms, took the flag from our home, and replaced the one at the gun club. <br /><br />With my iPhone and a wifi speaker I played Retreat and To the Colors. We pulled the old one down slowly under Retreat, and raised the new one fast with To the Colors. <br /><br />To his credit, the 4 year old was able to hold the flag well enough for me to fold it correctly all be it a little slowly. <br /><br />We plan to burn it correctly when weather permits. Wz treated respectfully by staff &amp; other diners. Finished breakfast just as s-i-l arrived to pick me up.<br /><br />Near noon, s-i-l drove me to Home Depot, where I bought supplies to make improvements to RV I&#39;m staying in on his (&amp; my daughter&#39;s) property. When we finished there, we (s-i-l, his nephew, his son--my grandson--&amp; I went to Chili&#39;s, where I wz treated (by Chili&#39;s) to lunch. Full, after 2 satisfying meals, took nap--as is natural for senior citizen. Wz awakened by son, also veteran, who informed me coin &amp; precious metals store wz gifting veterans with one ounce of silver. After we collected our gift, son took me to Taco Cabana, where we were treated (T.C.) to dinner.<br /><br />Pandemic didn&#39;t provide best situation--would hv been in procession with husband&#39;s flag if there had been parade--but the day wz satisfactory, under present circumstances.
