What are your thoughts, and or concerns of the Joint Information Environment. Do you think it will work, if not why?

Chief, please explain a bit more. I have limited knowledge of joint assignments and headquarters beside my deployment. What is it that you are asking?

From DISA's Site: "In execution, there are three lines of operation: governance, operations, and technical synchronization. DISA has been given responsibility for the technical aspects of JIE and leads the JIE Technical Synchronization Office (JTSO), which includes agency staff, as well as representation from the military services, intelligence community, and National Guard. As the department evolves the Joint Information Environment, the lines between components will blur. The matrixed organization evolving the JIE illustrates the department’s technological way ahead. The current organization includes the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), Office of the Deputy Chief Management Officer (DCMO), DoD CIO, Joint Staff J6, CYBERCOM, military services, intelligence community, and National Guard."

I think it will not work as many times the services do not want to change systems. It may be out of pride of their service or they may just not want to go through changes. I heard lots of times that we are going to a new pay system that will change our world and way of thinking and it will be for all services....yeah not holding my breath for that anymore as it has been over 4 years....

The other issues even within services is that the current systems will not talk to the new ones. You will love this new system....but you will still have to input into the old one as they cannot talk to each other....

Just my thoughts.
