Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl pleaded guilty Monday to charges that he endangered comrades by walking away from a remote post in Afghanistan in 2009. He could face a sentence of life in prison.

We will see. Given the fact that he has been portrayed as a individual with mental disabilities and his discharge from the Coast Guard. I am curious to see what sentence is received.

I'm glad from the standpoint of it should speed things along now. As far as what they do to him? That's above my paygrade. And while I certainly have my opinion on the matter, that's all it is and as of now, the judge has yet to ask me for it.

I would like to see him receive at the very least life imprisonment with the chance of parole. 20,000 US service members were convicted of desertion during WWII. Many of them were sentenced to death, but had their convictions commuted to life without parole. Only one was executed.

I would no longer allow him to wear the uniform of the United States Army. He should remain in prison garb until that point that he be remanded to the staff of the Correctional Facility at Ft. Leavenworth or Ft. Hood to be executed for his misdeeds!

What few brain cells I have left don’t really have the ability to process why people like Bowe Bergdahl, Bradly Manning, and Reality Winner seem to think they “know better” than their peers, commanders, and the government. Is this a millennial thing where a sense of moral and ethical superiority over all forms of authority has become the rule and not the exception? What’s even more disturbing is the actions of the Obama administration concerning Manning and Bergdahl. Manning should still be in the gray-bar-motel until his sentence was up. Bergdahl was far from the soldier who served, according to Susan Rice, with “honor and distinction.” He deserves what the judge gives him. The young lady, ex AF Airman Reality Winner, who passed classified NSA information to a media outlet is little more than a Class A dumbass.

Ok, Alright.. At present, I feel that Congress, The Federal Government is in NO POSITION to pass judgement on, or make an example of SGT Bergdahl, or anyone. They can spend time looking in a mirror... They and the VA Sit back and watch as 100's or possibly 1000's of Vietnam /Veterans Suffer from chemical exposure and die off... these same politicians never grew a set of cojones, they dodged the draft, and now cut into the benefits of our military !!! Some real Leadership !! Fine Example ... Dishonorable discharge, time served .. Consider SGT Bergdahl some mercy, as has been done before ...

I am not sure he is admitting guilt, I read an article where he was interview and he stated he could not get a fair trial because of statements made by then candidate Trump. But he did not sound sorry or anything in the article just wants to get it over.

I hear what everyone is saying about SGT Bergdahl, but can you imagine what his parents and sister are going thru? SGT Bergdahl obviously didn't think about them, putting them thru all that. They must be completely numb.

Firing squad. Main reason is the deaths of others that his action causes. Second why should we feed, cloth and give anything towards maintaining the life of a traitor. I hope that somewhere along the line Obama is also charged with the transfer of known individuals who have killed in the name of the Muslim faith for his man.

I just want to not hear about him anymore. A long sentence will spawn appeals and protests and keep this guy in the news for years. I understand the desire for a long sentence, but claiming that the search for Bergdahl was the only reason the 6 soldiers who died were in harms way in the first place is not realistic. From what I've seen, the search for Bergdahl wasn't the primary mission any of the killed soldiers were on. Granted, I don't have access to the fully un-redacted after action reports, but it doesn't look like Bergdah'ls desertion was directly responsible for their deaths. They do deserve justice, but this feels like someone is trying to scapegoat a deserter for combat casualties that might have happened either way.

In the end, I just want him to go away. Figure out the happy middle ground for his sentence, lock the cell door, and let's just move on.
