Some would say it's easy. Where will you be attending? At Fort Campbell, it wasn't too bad. Yeah, double time everywhere, and "4 winds" and rucks and all that, but it's not that bad. Attention to detail is what gets people the most. Fort hood apparently has something to prove and the people in my company went a few weeks ago said it was pretty brutal. I don't know first hand, but they're not the softest guys I've ever known. They did have some pretty long hours, and no weekends. I remember when I went at Fort Campbell (in 2004) I DID get the weekends, and the schedule, while early start and late finish was consistent. The guys here at hood had a pretty erratic schedule from what they made it sound like. Get ready to yell "Air Assault" about 500,000 times, including every time your left foot touches the marching surface (ground). Zero day was rough-between every obstacle, the cadre smoked the you know what out of you. So much so, that when the next obstacle came, you were gassed. It was manageable however. We lost a lot that day and a few stragglers who failed some tests but overall, it wasn't too bad. The ruck at the end wasn't bad. I'd run light pole to light pole and walk a pole to a pole. Not realizing it, I crushed that ruck on graduation day.

Funny story, we came back from chow one day and I forgot something in my ruck and had to run out and grab it. Now, every time your left foot hit the ground, you were supposed to scream AIR ASSAULT! I thought I was alone....I wasn't! One of the cadre jumped out of God knows where and yelled, Come here stealth fighter!" I quickly locked it up. He said "Do you know why I called you stealth fighter?" I replied I did not. He said "Because you're moving awfully quick, but you ain't making any noise! GET DOWN AND BEAT YOUR FACE AND LET ME HEAR YOU!" I laughed so hard while I was pushing. I think he did some too! It was a good time! If you can go, GO! Air assault! Lots of physical and mental strain, both. I went to Benning, and at one point two kids got sent to the hospital due to dehydration/high internal core temp. Be prepared to be smoked for just about every reason imaginable, and study every. Single. Night. Before first phase was over, we had dudes playing on their phones, talking to their girlfriends, watching Netflix, etc. Pretty much doing anything other than studying. These are the same guys that did not make it past first phase. Find a battle or two, and just shoot questions back and forth at each other until you all feel relatively confident in the material. Do this every night (NOT JUST THE NIGHT BEFORE THE TEST) and you'll make it by in no time, just so long as you have the intestinal fortitude to get through the physical stuff.
