I saw people who never left the FOB earn BSM&#39;s while I saw soldiers who engaged bad guys while outnumbered overcome and kill them, only to be denied an award because they were below the rank of SGT<br /> AND , later that year, I learned of a female who was awarded a Silver Star for doing less than my guys did. So politics is DEFINITELY in play. Just take care of your own guys the best you can.
