What are your thoughts on higher ranking officers being charged with sexual crimes? 0-4 and above

My personal feelings is, if they are found guilty of their crimes, they should be facing the max penalty under the law/UCMJ. These leaders are often the stewards of these programs, and they are suppose to be setting the example for everyone to follow. These are often high-profile cases, and the Army has been dropping the ball in letting these offenders off the hook or with reduced punishment. If anything these "leaders" are the ones that should be made an example of.

Personally I find it appalling that certain people get away with it and are forced to retire but others are given jail time and bad conduct discharges.....UCMJ should apply to all of us equally regardless of rank

see what happens when you think too much, it causes the brain to override common sense, look do not dig to deep into the question, it's like the ASVAB test normally your first response is correct. this is not a final exam, you are not being graded(lol). I can think of many questions that are more "vague"! just your thoughts on what's going on in DOD with the high incidents of sexual harassment in field grade and above

My thoughts on an O-4 and higher officer being CHARGED with sexual crimes. Well, if they did it then charge them. Its kind of a "phishy" question actually. The only OTHER answer to the question would be to say that, its wrong to CHARGE them with a sexual crime. If someone commits a crime REGARDLESS of their rank, charge them appropriately E1/ O-6 etc, Spouse, dependent, DA Civilian etc... if they did it charge them. To ask if its right or wrong to do so,,, just appears to show a premonition not to file the charge in the first place just because of their rank... just saying. This answer of course is barring all the other misc. b.s. charges that have been filed against people just to get them in trouble...

I'm actually confused as to how this is even occurring at all at the 0-4 and above level!

I mean, over the course of my career I have not so much as even flirted with anyone in uniform, let alone commit a sexual crime against anyone! There are 7 billion people in this world. You mean to tell me that an educated person with greater than 10 years of honorable service and leadership, in decent health/shape, with a respected career can’t find someone to start an exclusive relationship with and must resort to criminal/perv-like behavior?!?!

I just don’t get it.

It’s NOT hard to avoid. Treat people like people, and don’t screw around with anyone who works with you. Oh yea, don’t attack anyone sexually! I’m completely blown away that senior leadership, as smart and evolved as as they are supposed to be, STILL manage to do crap like this!

The law should not recognize rank, gender, creed etc... Its the law do the crime pay the time.

Simple-- if they commit the crime they should get the punishment based on the seriousness of the crime (any crime be it sexual, theft/embezzlement, child/spousal abuse etc) regardless of rank. If anything, the same type and level of crime should be considered more serious for higher ranks, because they are held to a higher standard of behavior and should be setting the example to the subordinates!
