What are your thoughts on those who have a sense of entitlement? How do you deal with them?

I call them out on it. Today a lady jumped the line at the bus. I stopped and told her there was a line, and pointed at everyone behind me. Didn't do anything as she still cut it, but generally I let people know they aren't the only one in the universe.

I don't remember the details, but in civilian attire, I've had fellow Service Members in uniform try to do similar at food or other establishments, I do the same as above, and remind them they never know who is watching.

We all all products of our core values and beliefs. Those individuals that feel their entitled where raised in that manner. I listen to what they say and ask open ended questions. Then I provide them with a different perspective. Assertive communication is the way I handle difference's of opinion's.

Dealing with them is one of the most mentally draining things I do.
Most of the time at work I try to grin and bear it.
In life outside work I often allow them the privilege of learning my point of view. Sometimes lined up with my hand's front sight post (middle finger).

My thoughts are..."What is wrong with their brain to make them feel entitled about anything?" People that feel entitled are those that don't get a lot of respect.

I have a family member who once said she was a princess and that her husband needed to treat her like a queen. After I swallowed my vomiting, I told her to "Look around for a castle....don't see one? Better get some self respect and go work some overtime to buy everything you are entitled to!"

Narcissists have a grandiose sense of self-importance and entitlement, crave admiration and attention. When you stop stroking their ego or beg to disagree, they can turn on you and become punishing. When it gets to that point, be warned, my words "slice like a ninja, cut like a razor blade". It wasn't to long ago I had to put someone in there place, oh the agony.

I've know people in the military do it. Your rank, your badges, your cool beret doesn't continue into civilian life. It’s over and overnight you go from Joe Cool to Joe Bag-O-Donuts when it is. No has to give you respect or recognize your authority. It’s just like starting over, so once again, check your attitude at the door.

Sometimes I just feel like saying listen.... "I have been through way too much sh*t in my life to deal with your ignorance, stupidity, close mindedness, attitude, immaturity, and and sense of false entitlement! So get away from me before I put you to sleep on this block I've been around a hundred times!"...oh wait I do saying something close to that..

I learned along time ago that I earned everything I worked fo... While some would see it as "Entitlement" because of my Gender, Ethnicity and Race in some cases. I chalk it up to being raised by good parents who taught me to treat people like how I wanted to be treated and never to look down my nose at them or their job. I expected the same in turn... The problem is that a lot of Khakis never properly learned this concept and worse is because of their own self entitlement from their rank or connections turned into total assholes that often got karma in the end in some way. Usually so bad they got out of the Military with a General Discharge vs an Honorable One.

One of the worst things Junior Officers' and freshly minted CHEIFS egos out weighing their common sense and wind up getting their asses handed to them later by either Senior Enlisted or Officers is looking down at others with a "Sense of Entitlement". You may have "earned that Commission" by going thru OCS but at lot of times you're dumber and more dangerous than an E-2 fresh out of AIT. The Best Officers are ones who listen to their Senior Enlisted (E-5) and above to get a sense of the workings of a command or squadron or unit.

The savvy ones are humble and try to treat their subordinates with respect that they're putting in hard work and effort. I've seen more JOPAs get their advancement to Department Head getting their division to work harder by simple bribery of food and sodas. As well as paying for a round of drinks for them on liberty. The sad thing is that this trend has gone away because of people being unable to behave when they've consumed alcohol as well as certain Teetotaling Douchebags who found religion and decided to influence others to quit by abuse of rank rather than provide common sense reasons to quit.

The other issues is that certain people abuse power because of their Entitlement of Gender in engaging in false claims of sexual assault or harassment when they incompetent or lazy or worse; as manipulative folks who use those claims to get ahead while legitimate cases of sexual assault and harassment are then damaged by these fuckwits who should be kicked out of the Military for filing false charges. Sadly, the few individuals who get away with it because they run to others and scream discrimination when they get caught. Then they get transferred and the command suffers because of investigation and loss of personnel afterwards including the accused and the accuser along with others when there's suspicion of malfeasance by leadership to cover up these events.

My thoughts on entitlement are, "The world ows you noithing!". Get over yourself". The Bible says,"It is better to wait to be invited to the head of the table. Others may come with more authority/rank and you maybe asked to move" (Para phrased). The world doesn't owe any of us anything. The one entitlement that everyone shares is freedom.

People who are defined as entitled will eventually be assimilated into the real world and it will not be pretty. Their definition of self will be destroyed when they find out old f@ckers like me demand teamwork and excellence. The entitled will suffer if they can’t appropriately change.

What was wrong with the OD ball cap? You could stick the bill in your belt (behind your back) and it didn't suffer much, and it kept the sun out of our eyes, sorta'. Rain, too, a bit.
Why wear a 'continental' headgear at all? Ballcaps say "U.S." to me! Maybe a bearskin busby? Chromed helmet with a horsehair 'mohawk'? Don't go back the to pillbox marine cap, tho, even if Elvis wore one! Just sayin' -- while I still have time!

First off, I think the word entitlement is misused. I am entitled to my military retirement. i am entitled to my VA disability. I am entitled to my Social Security..
