This crap is becoming so common now that I'm losing any and all words to say about this. It's pretty annoying. Why a school district would ban The Ensign is beyond me, and if it's to adhere to other people whining, then that's just too bad. I've folded way too many American Flags to see something like this and pass it by. I'd be the first to walk into that school with an American Flag on my shirt and red, white and blue shorts (although if you knew me, you'd probably doubt that). Sometimes I beg to ask, what are we fighting for anymore?

As a concerned tax payer and patriot; having a tax payer funded school tell a child that they could not display the American flag would receive a strongly worded, respectful, and one sided conversation with the school's principal from me. If this was my child's school, I would come down in person and address this issue.

I can not think of a worst way for a school district to deal with this. My knee jerk reaction to this would be to sew American flags onto every sleeve of all coats, shirts, hats my kids owned. On closer look of the problem, it's not really the banning of the flags, that's just what we see. The problem is the subversive tactics being used against the kids. They are being shown that higher authority can and will take away their freedoms but leave them with approved alternate choices to make it seem like they still have freedom of will to choose, even though those choices are pre approved through the higher authority as proper alternatives. These kids need to know they have constitutional rights, inalienable rights that can not be suppressed, removed. These educators are doing a fine job of raising a flock of sheep. Good thing there are still sheep dogs to watch over them.

I had the same situation in my church. The pastor refused to display the flag any where in or on church property. I even offered to buy it along with the Papl flag. Of all places, is it not more fitting to display the fly (one nation under God? The flag is now in , and the pastors gone.

As a Tennessean...I'm "face palming" on my way to the head to throw up.

I'll try to avoid sensationalism and politics. Number one, a flag is a symbol, and a symbol only has relevance to those whom it represents...and those who oppose what it represents. A New York Yankees cap means nothing to me because I'm neither a fan of the Yankees or Boston.

Old Glory should represent ALL of us...regardless of our differences. One of my known Rev-War ancestors died fighting in a red coat (and from family legend, for reasons I can respect); however, I don't fly the Union Jack because I'm not a British citizen. I don't fly one myself, for a number of reasons (up to and including my Civil War ancestor died at Andersonville)...but the colors of the Army of Northern Virgina represent the history of American soldiers who fought for what they believed in, and I give it that much respect. If you can honestly tell me you'd feel "ok" flying it from your porch when being visited by African American neighbors...then I'll admit that is your call. If you'd take it down, then you have to admit there's a point where "heritage" can be a source of controversy, and that there are some places it doesn't belong...I think schools apply.

I wonder, though I think I know the answer...if Washington and Cornwallis, Lee and Grant, Custer and Crazy Horse could be brought back to life, having full knowledge of ALL that's happened in the the last two and a half centuries...WWI and II, Southeast Asia, the Middle East..."Doughboys" , "Yanks", "Code Talkers" and "Restrepo"...does anyone think they would applaud this recent example of weakness?

Personally Sir, I think a lot of things are getting out of hand. No one alive today in the USA legally owns any slaves and there are no slaves. Most Southerners look at the stars and bars just as a way of saying hey we Southern folk. The only flags that a school should allow are the US Flag, State Flag, and if the school has one, the School Flag. I'm really getting tired of all this crap like what happened last year in California, if memory serves, where a school banned clothing that displayed the American Flag on Cinco de Mayo because they feared backlash from Mexican students.
