Guns don't kill people, bad people with guns do. Guess what, if they did not have guns, they would use bats, clubs, knives, sticks, cars........

When criminals are prosecuted for the crimes they commit, they need to serve the sentences that are administered. And crimes involving guns should carry large sentences.

And here is the biggee. Would you rather as a criminal, roam around in a unarmed society? Or would you rather roam around not knowing who is carrying? Which house has firearms? If you go to Jack someone, would you be happier knowing that you are the only one armed?

Plus, at some point, someone is going to have to yell WOLVERINES.

Deliberately misleading. There is no such thing as gun violence just as there is no such thing as "assault weapons". Both are deceptive political terms designed to incite fear on the pubic.

I agree that the term "gun violence" is misleading, because it's the person who chose the action. I think the concept is nice, but the ad itself didn't really say much. What good is a plan without execution?

PO3 Shaun Taylor, then what's the plan? What do we do? First of all though, we need to identify the issue. What is the issue?

First off regarding this ad, i say ENOUGH...!!!!! As in IVE HAD ENOUGH OF THESE CRAZY CELEBRITIES TRYING TO RUN OUR LIVES ON UNEDUCATED BULLSHIT NONSENSE.

You could pick any of a thousand in-animate objects that have killed people and say the exact same thing. Most of them have killed more people than private citizens on a rampage. Here's a good website that gives you rampage killings since 1982 http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2012/07/mass-shootings-map?page=2

In 2012 there were a 151 deaths according to this left leaning media called Mother Jones. So in one year 151 deaths from rampage killings. That's tragic to say the least but that is a different conversation. In 2012, 10,322 people lost their lives in alcohol-impaired-driving crashes. In 2012, 33,561 people died in motor vehicle traffic crashes in the United States. Where is the outrage? Why is drinking alcohol still legal? (of course these same celebrities want to legalize marijuana, but that too is a different conversation for another time).

In 2010 1,704 people were killed with a knife or other sharp instrument.
In 2010 540 people were killed with a hammer or club.
In 2010 220 people were killed by strangulation or asphyxiation.

All this effort for 151 people in 2012 killed by a rampage..... These celebrities are a joke. Our politicians are a joke for listening to these people. And it pisses me off that I have to make light of the 151 dead people simply because of the extreme argument from idiots. I'm not even a big gun guy, but stupid is stupid.

The only sane argument from the anti-gunners is when they say "you would feel different if your loved one was killed by these guns". Well my answer is NO I WOULD NOT. We can not legislate this country from the emotions of a few people (as sad as these tragedy's are).

If you look at homicides rates globally. The USA relatively low. With South American countries are by far the highest rate per 100,000 people. With few exceptions countries with the most restrictive gun laws are by far the deadliest. Japan is a good example as it has a very low homicide rate, but you must consider 2 main points... Japan is a small country of only about 35 million people total. 2nd, it has a robust economy with people who like to work and prosper. The United States is at worst in the middle of the road on these statistics and when you consider how free we are, how many guns per person we have, its a pretty damn safe country. Furthermore, I challenge most other countries on accuracy in reporting their data. For example France has exploded in homicides recently, yet 2010 or 2011 is the last year we have statistics (at least on a quick search). Further if you take out the rampage killings in the USA, 70-80% of the rest of the gun related killings you will find it is done by gang members. So gangs are our number one source of firearm related homicides. That is where our outrage should be.

Its more dangerous (statistically speaking) to visit Chicago then Syria. Ok, I'm done for now but I'm sure these facts will not sway some people so I'll probably have to post more on this.
