<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I know some events are barred from being made mandatory to attend esp if it requires money to attend or issues with transit and im well aware theres alot of soldiers living in the barracks with no cars. if one of them fails to come to PT that is being held off base, that is still grounds for a counseling or are they not required to attend because of said location of where its being held. sure cant force soldiers to buy a car or use a taxi that much i know.Fri, 13 Dec 2019 11:11:55 -0500What Army Reg addresses the issue of attending PT off the instillation?

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>If your unit tells you that pt is 18 miles away at steep mountain for a company run, then the company is required to provide transportation. What's the distance that they want you to travel? Why would it cost money?SPC Stewart SmithFri, 13 Dec 2019 11:22:44 -05002019-12-13T11:22:44-05:00Response by MSG Gary Eckert made Dec 13 at 2019 11:26 AM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Normally, the unit will have a transportation plan for those that reside in the Barracks. They could also do local travel orders if the numbers weren't sufficient to provide transportation. That's the official answer, if this is a once and done event, Soldiers tend to be resourceful rather then risk the wrath of their CoC,MSG Gary EckertFri, 13 Dec 2019 11:26:06 -05002019-12-13T11:26:06-05:00Response by CSM Richard StCyr made Dec 13 at 2019 11:45 AM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Pt is covered in a slew of regs : AR 350-1, AR 600-20, FM 7-22 and a few DA Pams. You can argue the inconvenience of the location but experience tells me you'd be on the short end of the stick. <br />As a young troop I'd coordinate with my buddies for a ride before I had my own vehicle if the Squad Leader didn't lay on the truck. That said... as a Squad Leader I used to either pick my guys up, coordinate a battle buddy for them or get an off post dispatch for our dump truck and load the crew on it and roll from the barracks.<br />See ya at the lake for raft PT at 0530. <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Am 100% sure there is more in the story but, for the sake of discussion...<br /><br />... Soldier can bring any issues to his/her supervisor right away, and trust me, it will corrected shortly after if no immediately!<br /><br />2. Unit PT, like any other unit activities, are scheduled and posted in advanced. See 1 above.<br /><br />3. Soldiers living in the barracks would not have a spouse inquiring for an issue. Unless a Geo Bachelor and that’s another headache on its own merit!MAJ Javier RiveraFri, 13 Dec 2019 12:01:19 -05002019-12-13T12:01:19-05:00Response by MAJ Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 13 at 2019 12:22 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>A lot of missing info here. When was the time and place put out? Was there ample time to find a ride? Did the soldier call his CoC and tell them he didn't have a ride? Etc. Etc. As far as the counselling is concerned, that is just a record of a conversation. It will say he failed to show up for PT and he can agree or disagree with it and write his explanation for whatever happened. It's not a big deal. Unless your file has 10 such counselling's in which case there's an issue somewhere.MAJ Private RallyPoint MemberFri, 13 Dec 2019 12:22:16 -05002019-12-13T12:22:16-05:00Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 13 at 2019 12:34 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Unit PRT....regardless of where it is held, is required to attend unless otherwise excused. If it is being held off base, and no personally owned vehicle is present, then it is the Soldier's responsibility to obtain transportation to said PRT......which is posted and known well in advance. If no other Soldiers are able to provide a ride, that is when the Soldier in question needs to address this......beforehand.....with their Team Leader and/or Squad Leader. Sure, the Team Leader and/or Squad Leader should ask if anyone needs a ride. If that was asked and no one spoke up......then whose fault is it for not showing up for PRT? Even if there was a previously established ride but then that ride fell thru/flaked out...then the Soldier in question should have contacted their NCO to say they do now need a ride. But to answer your question...Yes, the Soldier in question can certainly receive a counseling statement.MSG Private RallyPoint MemberFri, 13 Dec 2019 12:34:05 -05002019-12-13T12:34:05-05:00Response by SGM Bill Frazer made Dec 13 at 2019 1:30 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>This smells very fishy, normally if a unit holds PT at a location off post, or far from the unit they will have transportation. Be it 2 1/2tn, 5tn Military trucks of 80 pax units or buses.SGM Bill FrazerFri, 13 Dec 2019 13:30:07 -05002019-12-13T13:30:07-05:00Response by CPL Gary Pifer made Dec 13 at 2019 1:47 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>The refs were listed by others. Any unit holding off base training would have to account for transportation, whether by bus or organized share ride. Either way they would have to attend.CSM Darieus ZaGaraFri, 13 Dec 2019 15:02:27 -05002019-12-13T15:02:27-05:002019-12-13T11:11:55-05:00
