What awards transfer over from my service in the National Guard? Is there a way to get that processed?

My SNCO told me I should look into what awards I rate, how would I go about that? I don’t have access to AKO anymore so I was wondering how to get those award records and who exactly to send them to.

Do a SF 180 or you can request your records online. The form will tell you where to send it to!

I would tend to think that every award earned by an NG that is covered DoD and AR regulations should transfer, however, any state specific awards should stay in the state.

Every award you have will transfer over. I was Army Guard, then active Navy, then back to the Guard. I have all of my Navy awards.

Take your DD214s and the orders (the completed 638) for your federally recognized awards (i.e. Those listed in AR600-8-22 Military Awards. If you have an award in that regulation, then you may wear it on active duty.

So very confused looking at your profile. Rank chart and photo are USMC, units listed are ARNG. So are you a Marine that transferred to the ARNG? If you are going to the Marines from the ARNG, they come at the awards world differently. You will need the Marine Corps regulation/instruction. The awards for the Marines generally transfer to the Army.

How many decorations and which ones are we talking about?

Look at your NG DD214 and it will list your awards.

All military awards including state awards are documented weather their worn or awarded promotion points is another issue. I will tell you state awards have tipped the scales on quite a few people on board's I have been on

If you are asking "What awards transfer over from my service in the National Guard to the Active Duty ... State awards do not transfer to the Federal side. E.g, a California Commendation Medal, California Achievement Medal, etc go into a drawer or you "I Love Me Wall" if you go Title 10.

You take your records from the NG and go to the current personnel center and ask them to transfer the appropriate awards to your new records.
