Know doctrinal terms and how to maneuver and lead a section with proficiency. I'd recommend trying to attend the Army Reconnaissance Course (ARC) once you get settled into your unit. This will help you develop a better understanding of reconnaissance operations and security missions. Other than that, when you get to the line, just be ready to mentor and lead Soldiers. Still to this day, being a Cavalry Leader is the best job I ever had! The Drill Sergeants referred to him as private. They rode him like a private. They assigned more responsibility to him, expected more out of him, all while treating him like everyone else. It seemed to support comeraderie with the new recruits. He seemed to dislike being the responsibility, but he easily made it through the 16 weeks of OSUT. On a side note. OSUT for 19D is like 16 weeks of basic training, with some AIT classes thrown in there. What I can guarantee you is that yes you will be in shape enough to be able to handle 19 Delta training. Yes you will not have to retake basic training. No you should not expect the same thing out of any other training that you have done to be the same as the training you will undertake. If you have any fear of heights don't do it. If you have any fear of drill sergeants that are the worst nightmare you have never had don't do it. But if you have the balls to punch a first sergeant in the face and fuck your ex's wife in front of both of them then go balls deep and train to be a 19 Delta SGT Derek Wynne Thu, 08 Jun 2017 03:22:16 -0400 2017-06-08T03:22:16-04:00 2017-02-25T10:33:45-05:00
