What can I do to help secure an active duty offer through Army ROTC accessions?

Good afternoon,
My name is Michael Linton and I am an Army MS1 Cadet at Cornell University. My current GPA is 4.0 and I have a 300 PT score. I am worried moving forward about maintaining my GPA and was wondering what GPA would be considered safe to get Active Duty. I do not plan on slacking off, and just wanted to get an idea of it since Cornell can get very competitive grades wise moving forward.

What can I do to help secure that active duty offer?

Cadet Linton, GPA fluctuates from year to year. Do the best you can and continue to be a lifelong learner.

I’ve known guys with a 3.0 GPA, that were slotted for active duty. I’m not saying that you should ever drop that low, but having a 4.0 now has you off to good start.

I also had a 300 APFT, a 3.2 GPA, but got Recondo from LDAC, which improved my chances for Active Duty. Make sure you do very well at LDAC, get Recondo and even an overall E (if they still call it that) and you will be fine.

Three dimensions: Scholar, Athlete, Leader. GPA is only one of the dimensions.

This is old data, but this is what I was told; that my degree and the school I graduated from played a role in my selection for a RA commission with the associated active duty. My GPA and PT scores were ok (back in the day when 4.0 was the max). Might check with cadre and/or recruiting command.

Wow, things have really changed. Back in my day warriors did not get 4.0 GPA. The only guys with height GPAs were the guys going on to law school or medical school. Fighters and killers do not get high GPAs.

I recently asses active duty this past October through ROTC. Keep your GPA as high as possible, a pretty decent pt score, do well at camp, and receive a good evaluation from your Colonel at your school and you will be competitive to compete for active duty.
