Just expect to be started at the beginning of the new OSUT and don’t look for special treatment. Basically if you're prior service with a break in service more than 90 days you're starting day 0. We went to liason yesterday and most of us are inserted to week 3 and then after BRM you'll get pushed to a company in the AIT portion. If you go day 0 you'll get treated differently because they'll know you're PS, you'll just be helping cadre and helping DS's. You won't get treated like a private here unless you mess up. Also we get separated into our own bays, processed faster and pushed ahead of all the boots in reception. The Drill Sergeants literally treat you like you're somebody because they expect more from you. Its not bad whether you gotta go day 0 or not you'll be fine! The Army or your DI could care less that you were a contractor. There is very little in common except for foreign weapons training or selective marksman. PSDs have there own road tactics and the Infantry has its own. Mention how the PSDs do thinks and you will suddenly be "under the gun" as we used to say. Also be sure that if you have any family or loved ones that they understand that this is you and during this time of training, it's all you without distractions. I sound cruel but that's the best advise I can give from my end. Also, don't let anyone talk you out of it or make you second guess. Also as a 92A series going into the the 11 series, well infantry isn't for the faint or weak at heart because it truly is one of the only few MOS's left that you have to tell yourself that you can do this. 11X is the same way. I'll give 11C and 19D the same credit as well but to be out there in the elements....embrace the suck buddy but that suck is the best suck in the world and when time passes, it'll be the best job you ever had.

Good luck and stay in the game brother. We had 3 guys who were Prior-Service in my BCT company, 2 were enlisted guys re-classing and the other was a guy who got caught in the tattoo bureaucracy during the tattoo change. The tattoo guy was in OCS and was told he couldn't graduate because of his sleeves tattoos so he had to re-class as an enlisted soldier I guess?

The 2 enlisted guys both had deployments and had been in the Army for years, they were treated like brand new privates and stayed in the bays with everyone else, zero preferential treatment.

The OCS/Tattoo guy was in my platoon specifically, to my knowledge had never deployed and had really only gone to Basic, OCS and then back to Basic. He stayed in a separate room, his cell phone and, had Sand hill passes every weekend.

For you it could go either way and every way in between, I'd just expect to be treated like a brand new private and save yourself a headache. You maybe prior service, ,but that won't mean much if you are not a transfer from a Combat Arms Mos and or a 91a/b.... 2nd,, whatever everyone else is doing ,you do twice as much . This is the fastest way to get upto speed physically and mentally for those who are unprepared for the Infantry. 11 series training is conducted at Ft. Benning, Ga. So just a hop, skip, and a jump for you.... depends on how your contract was setup but since your prior service they shouldn't have a problem with your pov.. Don't let your prior service ego get you neck deep in do do with the fresh fish and or the DS's, other than that do it harder and longer than anyone else, show them you want to be there to learn to be the best you can be, and understand going blue is not just a job it's a lifestyle choice. Shoot straight, Move fast and Communicate.. Good Luck , Let us know how you are coming along at Benning, Probably wind up one of those ant farmer's at Sand Hill.... Don't tell your Drill Sgt's i said that.....
