What can I expect from Infantry training as a prior service member who has been out for 2 years?

Leaving on the 28th for infantry training as a prior service garrison mos what can I expect been out 2 years will it be hard to keep up with the guys that already know some things since they went through basic at benning ? My recruiter also said their is no paperwork in the system that they should put in to show I don’t need basic so is it a possibility I could have to do basic again? Not a bad thing I was kind of hoping I would but being prior service they told me I wouldn’t

First of all, there is no "Basic Training" for Infantry at Fort Benning. The Infantry initial entry training conducted at Benning is OSUT -- One Station Unit Training. Combat Arms soldiers do not attend Basic and AIT, they attend OSUT. OUST started out as Basic and AIT back to back in one unit, but that was many many years ago and never meant to stay that way. The whole idea was to save time and money by not teaching the same things twice in slightly different ways to different standards.

When you arrive at Benning, it will be up to the training unit headquarters to determine exactly where you should fit into the course. It isn't just a decision of whether to have you take Basic again, but rather a choice of which week of the training cycle they will insert you. You may have a chance to offer some input; and if you ask to be inserted at the start of an OSUT training cycle I think there would be a pretty good chance they would do that. Most prior service soldiers are looking to avoid as much as possible of the early parts of the course.

You didn't mention what your previous MOS was other than describing it as "garrison" so apparently it wasn't combat arms and probably not combat support. That suggests that you would have very little in the way of skills towards being an infantryman. That would indicate placing you very early in the training cycle. If you are in great physical condition and present good military bearing they might consider placing you as late as the start of Phase 2, but I can't imagine much farther into the course.

When I went through the prior service it was kind of a mess we had 52 people wait 4 months in the hhc prior service company then we all got put in a platoon with only prior service with a day zero basic training but our platoon trained only the ait portion with another company but also they started a whole prior service company. Now idk if they still have that or that was a one time deal but as of March before I left it was still a thing and 30th ag get ready

Head games, Sleep Deprivation, Sore Feet, aching back and shoulders. Lots and lots of PT But at least they cannot slap you or eat you so there is that. Remember you are all there for the same reason but I am sure you will have one smart ass prick that will have to be dealt with in the platoon. There is always ONE in each platoon sometimes they pick someone to screw with sometimes they get the platoon in shit constantly. Listen to Drills and Instructors have strength and courage and you will be fine. And do not quit on any task.
