What can I expect to experience at Fort Gordon, if I re-enlist there as a 35F? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-can-i-expect-to-experience-at-fort-gordon-if-i-re-enlist-there-as-a-35f <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I&#39;m currently up for re-enlistment, and am extremely interested in utilizing my Option 5 for Ft. Gordon. As a 35F, I hope I&#39;m more likely to get assigned to one of the MI BDEs there, versus one of the TRADOC BN S-2&#39;s. I&#39;ve attempted to research the Units there, however, resources are scarce. What are some experiences you have had at Fort Gordon? What are the average unit policies? Also, I have my family and was looking to buy a house in the area, as I would expect the influx of Cyber Command, in the near future, to be beneficial to the market as time progresses. What are some good neighborhoods, etc? Re-enlistment will only get you to that duty station. Not a specific assignment or unit. Gordon during your reenlistment window. As far as there area itself, I was stationed at Gordon from 09-12 and have recently been back for 3 diff schools this yr. The Army is putting a ton of work in to the base, and GA is putting money into the Augusta area. I would definitely suggest living in Columbia County, and do a ton of research on schools if you have children. From my personal experience, the GA school system is subpar. Being MI, you may want to look into the DC area (Ft Meade WHCA or Belvior) just to expand your options a bit. If you’re assigned to the 116th Mi bde you will actually do Mi stuff and the unit is fairly laidback SPC Private RallyPoint Member Sun, 22 Dec 2019 11:03:21 -0500 2019-12-22T11:03:21-05:00 Response by MAJ Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 22 at 2019 3:31 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-can-i-expect-to-experience-at-fort-gordon-if-i-re-enlist-there-as-a-35f?n=5369806&urlhash=5369806 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Lived in the CSRA (what the locals call the central savannah river area) for 4 years. I lived in SC in Aiken county. I loved the area. You would be better to live just across the River in South Carolina in Aiken which would make about a 20 minute commute. You could either drive down route 1 or interstate 20 to the outer belt (520) and be on post pretty quickly. Cost of living was cheap. Tons of housing developments and new neighborhoods in the area. I always thought the schools were better in South Carolina than Georgia besides Columbia county where Evans Martinez and other nicer neighborhoods are are way too overcrowded IMO. <br /><br />I’d go back in a heartbeat but all my mobs are to non tradoc bases. Unsure if that&#39;s still an opportunity, as that was back in 2012-2015. He might have left without suitable replacement. Look into it. Also, Ft Gordon is in a very pretty part of Georgia, and the on-post golf course is fantastic. SGT Montana Crawford Thu, 26 Dec 2019 15:25:55 -0500 2019-12-26T15:25:55-05:00 2019-12-21T15:04:30-05:00
