<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>If it's not in his contract; he may be Simply Out of Luck (SOL).<br />In the Army though, E2 is an automatic promotion after 6 months. While I have limited experience with the Air Force I am guessing they have a similar automatic promotion time line.SGT Private RallyPoint MemberSun, 25 Nov 2018 16:48:55 -05002018-11-25T16:48:55-05:00Response by TSgt Terry Hudson made Nov 25 at 2018 6:47 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>How’s it going sir, so In order for your son to have been promoted to E2 with credits its needs to have been in his contract. If it wasn’t in the contract then he’s SOL. Those credits be of use towards his CCAF but not really anything else.TSgt Terry HudsonSun, 25 Nov 2018 18:47:57 -05002018-11-25T18:47:57-05:00Response by TSgt David Marti made Nov 25 at 2018 7:47 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>When I enlisted, about a million years ago, enlistees earned rank upon graduation from basic based on numerous factors. Those included number of college credits and length of enlistment. So theoretically he could have earned Airman (E2), upon successful completion of BMT. That is, IF that program or provision in the AFI covering enlistments is still in effect. As I told my own children before they entered military service, if it's not in writting anywhere in the contract, then it was never promised.TSgt David MartiSun, 25 Nov 2018 19:47:45 -05002018-11-25T19:47:45-05:00Response by SSgt Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 26 at 2018 9:26 AM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Basic was a while ago, PFC Schoenborn, so bear with me.<br />I was a college sophomore when I enlisted, and came in as an E-2. Like others have already said, it was part of the initial contract. I was paid as an E2 throughout Basic, but I didn't wear the rank until the last few days (as we were all equally worthless). <br />If it wasn't in his initial contract, I don't think he can backpedal now. Putting on E-2 once he gets to his first duty station should happen pretty quick.SSgt Private RallyPoint MemberMon, 26 Nov 2018 09:26:13 -05002018-11-26T09:26:13-05:00Response by PFC Donald Schoenborn made Nov 26 at 2018 12:44 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Update! I spoke with the recruiter this morning. He looked up my sons contact and he is listed as an E2. He will get his rank after basic! Thank you all who replied.PFC Donald SchoenbornMon, 26 Nov 2018 12:44:36 -05002018-11-26T12:44:36-05:00Response by LTC John Mohor made Nov 26 at 2018 1:10 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Now if he'd have joined the army he might have even made E-3 or E-4 while in basic. I'm sure he'll be happy with the Air Force it'll just take him longer to make rank.LTC John MohorMon, 26 Nov 2018 13:10:29 -05002018-11-26T13:10:29-05:00Response by COL Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 26 at 2018 3:56 PM
